ADDITIVE
Optical brightening agents are chemical compounds that absorb
light in the ultraviolet and violet region (usually 300-400 nm range)
Of the electromagnetic spectrum and re-emit light in visible violet
-to-blue (usually 420-500 nm range)l fluorescent light to yield a
brighter, fresher appearance.They are used to mask the inherent
yellowness of plastics and are used to improve colors and make plastic look whiter and brighter.

This blue light reduces the yellow colour of the substrate and give a brightened look. Unlike bleaching, it doesn’t leave a yellowish tinge and gives a much pleasing whiter-than-white appearance. While processing polymers along with any additives if it tends to show yellowness, in order to remove the same and add whiteness, opacity, gloss, etc These are generally added to enhance the aesthetics in Plastics substrate.



After we add optical brightening agents, they absorb light from the ultraviolet region of the electromagnetic spectrum that we can’t see and re-emit that light in the blue region where we can see peak rises.Our eyes will perceive this white to be brighter than the white that doesn’t contain optical brighteners.
