Role of Slip additive during Extrusion process Slip additive are used to reduce friction between flims and extruder as it improves movement through extrusion lines and downstream packaging operations thereby enhancing processing / end applications. Initially, the slip additive is homogeneously dispersed in the film , its surface concentration is low (Fig : Phase A) and the Coefficient Of Friction (COF) is high. Due to the limited compatibility with the organic substrate, the slip additive migrates to the surface, thus the concentration on the film surface increases (Fig : Phase B) and the COF decreases.
